Unless otherwise stated in a specific section, following bandwidth, firewall and browser requirements apply to the whole RIVS Platform.
Bandwidth
There are no specific bandwidth requirements to access RIVS web interface as well as playback of all multimedia materials. Any Internet connection including 3G/LTE) is enough to load all the pages and content served by RIVS platform. A broadband connection is recommended for an optimal experience.
Firewall
There are no specific firewall requirements (unless otherwise stated below). RIVS web pages are always served through secure connection (HTTPS) over port 443 which is almost open in all networks.

Audio/Video Playback Via Browser
RIVS has implemented both HTML5 and Adobe Flash audio/video playback software. This allows for all users to playback multimedia materials, even without Adobe Flash installed on the computer.

Using a Mobile Device
General rules apply. RIVS supports uploads from all mobile devices. That includes phones and tablets running on Apple iOS, Google Android and Microsoft Windows 10 operating systems.
Please note that on 3G/LTE connections data rates may apply depending on your service carrier.
Using a Phone
General rules apply. The user is required to use a standard phone to record voice recordings. RIVS provides US/Canadian toll-free phone number.
Please note that international call rates might apply for users from outside of the US/Canada.

The number of streams depends on the number of participants joining the meeting. Number of download streams can be calculated by following formula:

It is recommended for the users to connect directly to the Internet. Connecting to RIVS Live meeting using VPN service or PROXY might lead to a poor audio and/or video quality.
Firewall
RIVS Live platform, in order to work properly, needs to be able to deliver and receive video and audio materials from the users. There are 3 options for firewall setup. Each option provides a different level of security and quality of service. The more strict the setting is, the larger possibility of poor quality of audio and/or video during the meeting.
Option 1
The firewall allows only traffic on port TCP:443 for all traffic. Please note that some firewalls/proxy servers allow only SSL/web traffic on that port – RIVS requires setting to allow all traffic including non-web traffic. This setting will allow RIVS Live to work properly, however, audio/video material has to be tunneled through using a TCP port which might not provide the best experience.
Option 2
In addition to requirement from option #1, firewall allows traffic on port UDP:3478.
This setting will allow RIVS Live to work properly and will provide users with better experience.
Option 3
In addition to requirement from option #1 and #2, firewall allows traffic on ports UDP: 1025-65535.
This setting will allow RIVS Live to work properly and will provide users with best experience.

Please note that RIVS.com, Inc is unable guarantee that the required IP addresses will remain unchanged in perpetuity. However, currently these IP address blocks are required for use by our
RIVS Live component, in addition to IPs used by other aspects of our service.

Upon request RIVS is able to provide clients with the hostnames from which traffic will be served. That allows clients to create proxy/firewall rules based on hostnames instead of IP addresses.
